The free course on "Design and development of mobile applications for Android" finished successfully

Sofia - June 23, 2014 – On Tuesday, June 17 2014 was the finish of the course “Design and development of mobile applications for Android”, which is organized by Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” and JobTiger with the support of Samsung. . The certification ceremony was held in the Laboratory for Innovation in the building of Sofia University – Faculty of Mathematics and Informatics. Chris Chung, CEO of Samsung for Bulgaria awarded the certificates and official guests were Christina Stereva, PR & CSV Marketing Specialist at Samsung, Ass. Prof. Dimitar Birov, Functional Rector IT, E-government and Information Security, Neli Malakova and Veselina Svetichkova, Senior Recruitment Specialists at JobTiger.

The course started on April, 12 2014, and 20 students took part. They all passed the admission test for basic programming knowledge and informatics.

Within 60 hours the young people had the opportunity to learn from leading IT specialists. Among them were the lecturers from Musala Soft – Boris Strandjev, Team Leader, Georgi Tsankov, Senior Software Engineer, Atanas Tsankov, Software Engineer, Jordan Zhelev, Software Engineer and Dimitar Dimitrov, Senior Software Engineer and guest speakers Hristo Mitkov, Senior Software Engineer at Proxiad and Valentin Bahtev, Mobile Developer at Software Group. The specialists shared their experience and helped the students to acquire new and useful knowledge with which to build and improve their technical competence.

For two hours the students, also, met with Neli Malakova and Veselina Svetichkova from JobTiger, and learned what it means to have “soft skills” and how to use them in practice. The young people competed in the construction of paper tower, divided in teams. At the end of the competition they learned, also, how to properly prepare a resume and cover letter to be presented to a prospective employer.

In the next step of the project, the trained youths will be supported by the specialists from JobTiger in finding a job as software specialists through counseling, personal training for interviews and meetings with employers, as well as direct contacts with companies looking for such specialists. Currently part of the students has already started work in software companies and the rest are in process of interviewing for positions they are interested in.
